Primary Bedroom

Somewhat fewer words and pictures this time, as there’s something odd about posting photos of one’s own bedroom on the Internet, but … the paint job was the real story anyway – see if you agree!

But first, here’s where we’re working today:

This one started with an inspiration post:

Gorgeous!

I liked the simplicity of the color wash across the walls, trim, and ceiling, and the moodiness. And apparently, it’s a bit of a trend – at least according to the Instagrams I follow! Here’s another version:

So, once we found the right color (see post on Living & Dining Rooms!), which is called “Tree Branch”, it was time for another forearms workout with the paint roller:

Perfect – that’s exactly how I want the finished product to look.

Also, because we need to make sure my Dad keeps his hand in on installing heavy light fixtures, I have a chandelier already, which I bought while I was in my previous condo, installed, uninstalled, and now will reinstall. Time to go to Maryland!

It took just two coats of paint, a new chandelier, two layers of curtains found at IKEA that happen to match the paint color perfectly, and a deep carpet shampoo to get out the cat pee smell.

So, here’s the before and after!

Another view:

One more for good luck!

Oh, and please note the *dark* electrical covers specially chosen for this design! Also, since I’ve not posted the actual “after” with the furniture moved in (yes, after two months I did finally move in!), here’s the rendering as an approximation:

I absolutely love how this design turned out with its dramatic “boudoir” vibe, and have no regrets about the color wash!

Debits

Best of all, since I already accounted for the paint and already owned the chandelier, CAPEX in this room was close to $0!

Thanks for reading, see ya next time!
